{% endstepper %}

### Mandatory Features

The following features (currently optional) are slated to become mandatory in Business Central 28.0. They should be enabled and vetted in advance to avoid last-minute issues. Each entry links to the official Microsoft documentation for that feature.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### [Enable use of G/L currency revaluation](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/finance-revalue-account-balances)

If you use general ledger (G/L) accounts to register, balance sheet items in foreign currencies, you should revaluate the account balances before you produce financial statements. Currency exchange rates often change, and revaluation helps make your financial statements more accurate.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### [~~New sales pricing experience~~](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/dynamics365-release-plan/2020wave2/smb/dynamics365-business-central/use-new-sales-pricing-experience-)

The pricing model in Business Central changes from individual price entries to a **Price List** model. This makes prices easier to group, review, and maintain.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**IMPACT:** This is a significant change which will require testing and training to make sure you understand the changes. Please contact your System Administrator if you are on the legacy pricing model.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %} <mark style="color:$danger;">**This feature will now become mandatory in V31, 2027 Wave 2 (from October 2027 to March 2028).**</mark>

Until that date, an administrator can use **Feature Management** to manually move to the new pricing model.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### [Use new communication texts for reminder terms](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/finance-automate-reminders)

Make your collections more effective by automating the process of creating, issuing, and sending reminders to your customers. Automation can significantly reduce the time you spend on collections, provide a better overview of the process, and give you full control over each step.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### [Advanced Tell Me (preview)](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/release-plan/2025wave2/smb/dynamics365-business-central/find-pages-reports-advanced-tell-me-search)

When you're searching for reports or pages but can't find what you need, it's frustrating and slows down your work. This AI-powered feature helps you quickly locate any page or report, even when you don't remember the exact name. You'll spend less time searching and more time getting work done.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### [Calculate only visible FlowFields](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/calculate-only-visible-flowfields-feature-key)

Previously, FlowFields were calculated even if they were not visible on pages. This behavior can lead to unnecessary computations and performance issues. With this update, the AL runtime calculates values only for FlowFields visible on pages. Learn more about when FlowFields are calculated in [FlowFields overview](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/devenv-flowfields#when-are-flowfields-calculated).

{% hint style="success" %}
**IMPACT:** List pages will open faster.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### [Enable MCP Server access](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/release-plan/2025wave2/smb/dynamics365-business-central/connect-ai-agents-business-central-through-mcp-server)

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Business Central helps businesses unlock the full potential of AI-driven automation and orchestration. When the server exposes Business Central entities such as customers, items, and sales orders through a standardized API, you get seamless integration with intelligent agents built on any AI platform that supports the MCP protocol, including Azure OpenAI and Copilot Studio. With this capability, users can automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and interact with their ERP data conversationally.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### [Preview semantic similarity search on application metadata](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/semantic-search-feature-key)

This changes how the system finds pages and reports based on search terms entered by users. Copilot uses semantic search to find objects based on the meaning and context of the search terms, providing relevant results even if the exact words don't match.

{% hint style="info" %}
**IMPACT:** Users may notice different search results.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### [~~Use optimized text search in lists: Modern Search~~](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/release-plan/2024wave2/smb/dynamics365-business-central/change-data-search-method-lists)

This feature adds a modern search option on lists that focuses only on columns enhanced with full-text search capability. Modern search speeds up the search process and gives more precise and relevant results.

See also: [Sort, search, and filter data in lists, reports, or XMLports](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/dynamics365/business-central/ui-enter-criteria-filters?wt.mc_id=d365bc_inproduct_page#searching)

{% hint style="info" %}
**IMPACT:** Users will notice different search results.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %} <mark style="color:$danger;">**This feature will now become mandatory in V29, 2026 Wave 2, from Oct. 2026 to Mar. 2027.**</mark>

Until that date, an administrator can use **Feature Management** to control whether the modern search is enabled in your environment, on the enabled list pages.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

This change significantly improves API performance.

{% hint style="info" %}
**IMPACT:** Ensure you are not using APIs V1.0. See also: [Transitioning from API v1.0 to API v2.0](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/api-reference/v2.0/transition-to-api-v2.0)
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**IMPACT:** The new Power BI reports are available to download free from the Business Central Market place. See also [Using Power BI to monitor financial statements and KPIs](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/bi#using-power-bi-to-monitor-financial-statements-and-kpis)
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

The Intelligent Cloud Insights feature showed KPIs and insights. It's now replaced by seven Power BI apps for finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, projects, and manufacturing.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### [Legacy reports (Removal)](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/upgrade/deprecated-features-w1#legacy-reports-removal)

A number of reports in these areas have been deprecated and will be removed from Business Central:

* Finance (4)
* Fixed Assets (3)
* Manufacturing (11)
* Sales (1)
* Purchasing (2)

{% hint style="warning" %}
**IMPACT:** Review the list of reports and ensure you have alternatives where necessary.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://kb.bevica.com/roadmap/bevica-roadmap/business-central-resource-hub/business-central-wave-1-2026-v28.0.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
