New Feature Highlights
Copilot & Agents
Discover emails in the mailbox that have been processed by Payables Agent. Payables Agent assigns the Processed by Payables Agent category to the emails it picks up
Get item insights with advanced KPIs and Summary. The Item Statistics page provides financial and performance metrics for an item across different time periods.
Development
AL developers can use semantic search on data and metadata. In this release wave, it is possible for AL developers to get access to the semantic ranking of (virtual metadata provider) records from the AL language.
Ecommerce
Assign custom collections to items exported to Shopify. This feature enables you to synchronize custom product collections from Shopify into Business Central. You can import available collections from your Shopify store and manage them on the Shopify Custom Product Collections page.
Export items to Shopify with product options based on item attributes. When you export items from Business Central to Shopify, you can now designate up to three item attributes as Shopify product options.
Use the latest update for the Shopify connector. Shopify releases a new API version every three months at the beginning of the quarter, and supports each version for 12 months.
Financial Management
Calculate taxes for plastic and sugar. Business Central introduces new capabilities in excise journals to calculate tax amounts for plastic and sugar based on legislation requirements that use weight, content, and transaction quantities as the basis for excise tax.
Use self-billed invoices. Business Central offers full support for self‑billed invoices in the purchase process. Buyers can now generate invoices on behalf of a vendor when a self‑billing agreement is in place.
Governance and administration
Audit user and group permissions across apps. The new Permissions Overview page provides comprehensive visibility into permission sets across all installed apps and extensions.
IMPACT: Makes it easier to identify which Permission Role to assign to a user when they report the You do not have permission to... error message.
Productive with Microsoft 365
Stay in flow of work with updated Outlook integration. Improved the user experience, speed and security of the contact synchronization feature that people can use to copy contacts from Business Central to Microsoft 365. You can easily author mails or schedule meetings with business contacts from Outlook and Teams.
Reporting and data analysis
Enhanced Subscription Billing Power BI app. Updated the Subscription Billing Power BI app with a number of new features and generally aligning its appearance with the style of the other Power BI apps.
Modernizing analytical reports for inventory. Modernized versions of a number of inventory related reports.
Supply Chain Management
Approve requisition worksheets and item journals. Extended approval workflows to item journals and requisition and planning worksheets.
IMPACT: Better control of miscellaneous inventory adjustments. You may need to change the inventory journal posting process as approvals are Batch based. process.
Create purchase quotes for contacts. You can create purchase quotes for contacts that aren't yet associated with a vendor.
Evaluate the quality of goods and materials. The Quality Management module provides end‑to‑end control over how and when quality checks are performed across purchasing, production, assembly, and scheduled or manual processes. It allows organisations to define detailed quality scopes, testing parameters, triggers, sampling rules, test plans, and quarantine procedures, ensuring goods consistently meet required standards. It also supports reporting tools such as quality certificates and certificates of analysis.
IMPACT: A significant and useful new module that is available across all receipting processes.
Sustainability Management
Use new APIs in Sustainability for better integration. The feature introduces four new APIs in the Sustainability area to improve interoperability and enable automated data flows between Business Central and external applications.
Mandatory Features
The following features (currently optional) are slated to become mandatory in Business Central 28.0. They should be enabled and vetted in advance to avoid last-minute issues. Each entry links to the official Microsoft documentation for that feature.
Enable use of G/L currency revaluation
If you use general ledger (G/L) accounts to register, balance sheet items in foreign currencies, you should revaluate the account balances before you produce financial statements. Currency exchange rates often change, and revaluation helps make your financial statements more accurate.
New sales pricing experience
The pricing model in Business Central changes from individual price entries to a Price List model. This makes prices easier to group, review, and maintain.
IMPACT: This is a significant change which will require testing and training to make sure you understand the changes. Please contact your System Administrator if you are on the legacy pricing model.
This feature will now become mandatory in V31, 2027 Wave 2 (from October 2027 to March 2028).
Until that date, an administrator can use Feature Management to manually move to the new pricing model.
Use new communication texts for reminder terms
Make your collections more effective by automating the process of creating, issuing, and sending reminders to your customers. Automation can significantly reduce the time you spend on collections, provide a better overview of the process, and give you full control over each step.
Advanced Tell Me (preview)
When you're searching for reports or pages but can't find what you need, it's frustrating and slows down your work. This AI-powered feature helps you quickly locate any page or report, even when you don't remember the exact name. You'll spend less time searching and more time getting work done.
Calculate only visible FlowFields
Previously, FlowFields were calculated even if they were not visible on pages. This behavior can lead to unnecessary computations and performance issues. With this update, the AL runtime calculates values only for FlowFields visible on pages. Learn more about when FlowFields are calculated in FlowFields overview.
IMPACT: List pages will open faster.
Enable MCP Server access
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Business Central helps businesses unlock the full potential of AI-driven automation and orchestration. When the server exposes Business Central entities such as customers, items, and sales orders through a standardized API, you get seamless integration with intelligent agents built on any AI platform that supports the MCP protocol, including Azure OpenAI and Copilot Studio. With this capability, users can automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and interact with their ERP data conversationally.
Preview semantic similarity search on application metadata
This changes how the system finds pages and reports based on search terms entered by users. Copilot uses semantic search to find objects based on the meaning and context of the search terms, providing relevant results even if the exact words don't match.
Use optimized text search in lists: Modern Search
This feature adds a modern search option on lists that focuses only on columns enhanced with full-text search capability. Modern search speeds up the search process and gives more precise and relevant results.
This feature will now become mandatory in V29, 2026 Wave 2, from Oct. 2026 to Mar. 2027.
Until that date, an administrator can use Feature Management to control whether the modern search is enabled in your environment, on the enabled list pages.
Deprecated Features
Excel reports on the Business Manager and Accountant Role Centers
A number of Excel reports are being removed on the Business Manager and Accountant Role Centers.
IMPACT: Review the list of reports and ensure you have alternatives where necessary.
API (v1.0) for Business Central (removal)
This change significantly improves API performance.
Legacy Power BI apps on Marketplace (removal)
The following Power BI apps on Marketplace are replaced:

Dynamics 365 Business Central - Finance
Dynamics 365 Business Central - Sales
by seven Power BI apps for finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, projects, and manufacturing.
Intelligent Cloud Insights (removal)
The Intelligent Cloud Insights feature showed KPIs and insights. It's now replaced by seven Power BI apps for finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, projects, and manufacturing.
Legacy reports (Removal)
A number of reports in these areas have been deprecated and will be removed from Business Central:
