Analysing the results

When the report is run, it will display quantity and value increases and decreases per item for the period you have entered. It will show total valuations for each of your Inventory Posting Groups with a grand total at the end. You can compare the Cost Posted to G/L column to your stock control account/s. Place a date filter on the chart of accounts up to the Ending Date you entered in the report. For example, if you entered Starting Date as 01/12/25 and Ending Date as 31/12/25, add a Date Filter to your chart of accounts ..31/01/25.

If you selected to Include Expected Costs you will have an Expected Cost total on the report which you can reconcile to your Stock (Interim) account/s in the chart of accounts.

If there is a difference between the report totals and the chart of accounts you can check the following:

  • Ensure the date ranges you have used to compare the report to the COA are consistent, i.e. the Date Filter on the COA is up to the Ending Date on the report

  • Ensure you are checking the Net Change column on the COA

  • Ensure you are comparing to the GL Accounts relating to the inventory posting group in the report

  • Drill down on the Net Change on the COA and add a filter where System-Created Entry = No. This will list any entries which have been posted directly to the stock control account therefore bypassing the stock ledger and the Bevica Inventory Valuation report
